How to Be a Savvy Cheapskate

I was intrigued by this article from US News and World Report. The part that resonated with me was this bit about what our priorities REALLY are - "We're really mostly committed to buying cool, expensive, green stuff."

What do you think?

  1. Very interesting! I liked this article a lot. I've always said, one of the happiest times in my life was when I lived in a tent, I had 2 uniform/outfits to wear for the week, and had 2 regular outfits for when we were not working. Everything I owned fit into locker, 18 inches wide and 5.5 feet tall and I still had plenty of space! Of course, I was working at a summer camp, but it was so nice to not have to worry about "stuff" or wanting "stuff" because I didn't have room for it! Thanks for sharing this.

    Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

  2. I read the magazine article. I agree. My life has changed since I moved to Honduras. My house is much smaller. I have less appliances, no dishwasher, etc. I eat at home more, and I like it! I can cook a wider range of healthier food than I have ever done before. We have lots of US chain restaurants in this city but I find them to be expensive. A simpler life is a healthier life.
